Navigating Women’s Health Through Movement

Basic movement skills in the wider context of women’s health can transform how you feel in your body in daily life.

I’m preparing to offer two new in person classes in January 2024. The first one will have an emphasis on women’s health because I believe that a little knowledge goes a really long way when it comes to managing all the varied systems and experiences relating to women’s health and how your movement habits and patterns fit into that.

I consulted with ChatGpt for a brainstorming session because sometimes when you work on your own it can be hard to pin down ideas and ChatGpt has proven useful for this - even if I end up rejecting the suggestions and going with my own ideas in the end.

Which is what happened this time…

My brainstorming session with ChatGpt

While it was useful chatting with my new mate Chat, I did find the suggestions quite cheesy and a little bizarre - see all the phrases in italics below.

It ended up being a useful exercise because Chat did help me come up with a title that feels more normal and relatable.

For the full transcript of my chat with Chat, have a look at this post.

It’s interesting that the term ‘women’s health’ brings up a particular kind of language as you can see in the phrases Chat uses. It conjures some kind of mystical and evocative experience. It’s this that I really want to emphasise - women’s health is a huge topic and as is coming to light more now, is under researched when compared to studies on men.

Join me on Wednesdays in this beautiful, tranquil space at Big Barn, Turley Farm, Delly End

The primary goal of movement education is to help clients move with more ease, reduce and eliminate chronic pain through practical movement education that is restorative in nature, is all about tuning in to your body, recognising patterns that trigger pain and recurring symptoms and learning new patterns that support balance, ease and better biomechanical function. This might sound really technical but in many ways it’s about tuning in to your body in very ordinary ways, starting at ground level with basic movements and building up from there.

You don’t need fancy equipment, you just need time, space to move and a willingness to tune in and pay attention.

While the crazy phrases below in italics conjure a wild and mystical journey, it may feel like that but you also might find you just feel more grounded and better equipped to get on with daily life and able to respond more directly to symptoms that arise at different times.

While we will embark on a Vitality Voyage and incorporate learning around pelvic health and how to move in ways that improve pelvic floor function, I’m reluctant to promise Peak Performance for your Fountain of Femme because I’m really not sure what that looks like but I do know that understanding your pelvic health in the wider context of how you move makes a huge difference to managing symptoms relating to continence, scar tissue, pelvic pain and more for the longer term.

You may indeed experience a Self Care Symphony and perhaps Harmony in Motion but you might also simply feel calmer, be able to sleep more soundly and develop skills that help you tune in and meet your body’s needs more appropriately in very ordinary accessible ways, daily.

I’m all for Empowering, Revitalising and Thriving because learning about HOW your joints move, your unique range of motions and your movement patterns can really transform how you feel in your body on a daily basis.

We will learn key alignment skills which will encourage more Soulful Insight, Body Wisdom, Body Illumination and may even Unveil Your Temple and help you Embrace Your Essence.

We will even go Beyond Movement: Aligning to Understand the Body You Call Home, developing Essential Rooted Awareness on the path to Holistic Harmony.

The phrases that came from Chat are quite funny but also make me feel sad because the AI looks for patterns and clearly women are targeted with all kinds of programmes and promises to transcend their human experience.

While Chat’s suggestions were helpful, they actually led me to the conclusion that plain language is best - it does what it says on the tin! The title I decided that comes closest to the class series I am offering is:

Align and Move: Navigating Women’s Health Through Movement.

Alignment really does matter when it comes to balancing tensions, intra-abdominal pressure, breathing and pelvic floor function.

Movement is essential on a micro and macro level in daily life for joint health, your biochemistry, waste disposal, circulation and more.

Knowledge and practice of these two things within the context wider of women’s health, can help you navigate different life stages and transitions including pre and postnatal, menstrual health, perimenopause and menopause, bone health, joint health and nervous system regulation and rest.

I will be offering these classes in two locations from January 9th. To learn more and book your place (spaces are limited) go to this page.
